Whole House Fan Info
Whole house fans have been in use for hundreds of years they started out as mechanical fans driven by people. Now days they are electrical powered and much more efficient.
The problem with standard whole house fans they are like an open window from your ceiling into your attic. That can be a large loss of heat and cooling. In picture A the fan is not operating and the R38 doors are closed and sealed providing the same insulator properties that your normal insulation provides. In use the R38 covers open up (picture B) to permit the fan to operate and remove the warm air in your house. There is no other unit available that boasts these levels of insulation and protection. This is a River Valley exclusive, as an Idaho distributor for this product you can only get it here.

Running Your Central A/C 24/7? Turn it off now! Start Saving Your Hard Earned Dollars Immediately! These Products Are Extremely Energy Efficient! A 5 Ton Central Air Conditioning Unit Can Use More Than 6000 Watts Per Hour! Compare that to 118-600 watts of power usage with one whole house fan. This means during operation the whole house fan uses only 10% of the power that a Central Air Conditioner unit uses.
Here are several reasons why a whole house fan works so much better than an attic fan.
- The attic fan does not remove the warm air with in your house.
- Attic fans are generally passive requiring a breeze to remove the hot air. On a very hot day with no breeze there would be know air movement out of the attic
- The second story of a house is generally warmer than the first floor and a whole house fan would remove that heat where an attic fan would not.
- A whole house fan does not condition the air but reduces the air temperature to the out side temperature. On a cool morning this could be a 15 degree change.
One last note since the Whole House fan does not change the air temperature it will not reduce the inside temperature to less than the out side temperature. It will though bring in the cool Morning air and replace the warm air in the house cooling the whole house.
